Michael Brennan is an American composer for film and theatre. His most recent show compositions and orchestrations can be heard in the now-running, multi-million dollar shows La Perle, The Dai Show, and Blackstone.
La Perle, Dubai’s first permanent theatrical show currently plays in Al Habtoor City in Dubai and is directed by legendary showman Franco Dragone. The Dai Show, a water spectacle, currently plays in Xishuangbanna, China and is directed by Andre Kasten and Leah Moyer, and produced by Franco Dragone. Blackstone, the pirate spectacular is produced by Mirage Entertainment, and plays in Changsha, China.
All three shows are currently playing to sold-out houses.
Michael’s musical, Citizen Ruth, based on Alexander Payne’s cult film, with book and lyrics by Mark Leydorf, won best musical at the New York International Fringe Festival, and is awaiting a new production with director Dan Knechtges of Houston’s Theatre Under the Stars.
Also an accomplished music director, Michael is the music supervisor and conductor for Jerry Springer the Opera, which was produced Off-Broadway by The New Group and directed by John Rando. Prior to that, Michael was the conductor and supervisor for Le Reve at Wynn Las Vegas. Other productions include The Lion King, Mamma Mia, and Avenue Q.
Michael has composed the scores to 3 award-winning animated short films which includePasteurized (Official entry, Cannes Film Festival), Nieta (Best Short Film, Toronto Film Festival), and The House of Colors (all directed by Nicolas Villarreal), as well as the horror thriller Eyes of the Dead, written and directed by The Samuels Brothers.
